THE LAND
Buds in Bloom sits on five acres in Canal Winchester, Ohio, on land shaped by generations of human and more-than-human life. We acknowledge this as part of the ancestral homelands of the Adena people, whose presence is woven into the deeper history of this place.
Around 1900, the property was part of a working cattle farm. Today, the land is slowly being restored and cared for with an emphasis on native plants, wildlife habitat, and seasonal change. Woodland trails wind through pawpaw and native shrubs, while a creek and small waterfall move through the property. The meadow, pollinator gardens, labyrinth, and growing areas continue to take shape as part of that ongoing work.
The land is not simply the setting for what we do. It is a living part of Buds in Bloom, continually changing with the seasons and teaching us to pay attention.
TRAILS
The entire property is one continuous trail, moving through meadow, forest, along the creek, and toward the waterfall. As the landscape changes, so do the sounds around you, from meadow birds and wind through the grasses to flowing water, woodland sounds, and moments of quiet.
During a guided forest therapy experience, participants are invited to move slowly through these changing landscapes and listen deeply to the different soundscapes of the land.
POLLINATORS
The meadow is one of the living heartbeats of Buds in Bloom, providing food and habitat for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators throughout the growing season.
Native and cultivated plants across the property offer a changing succession of blooms, while our gardens continue to grow with pollinators in mind.
Each summer, visitors can also take part in our annual lavender U-pick, a seasonal opportunity to gather lavender bundles from the property and experience the plants up close.
A one-acre meadow and contemplative labyrinth are part of our ongoing work to create and care for habitat that supports pollinators and other wildlife.
CONSERVATION & STEWARDSHIP
We believe that relationship changes responsibility.
The more deeply we know a place, the more we notice what lives there, what it needs, and what is changing.
Our conservation work is an expression of that relationship. We are restoring native habitat, supporting pollinators, tending the soil, protecting quiet spaces, and learning how to care for this land for the beings who live here now and those who will come after us.
When we remember that we are nature, caring for the land is no longer something separate from caring for ourselves.
THE LAVENDER FIELD
Our lavender field comes into bloom each June, filling the air with its distinctive fragrance and drawing bees, butterflies, and other pollinators among the flowers.
We chose lavender for its powerful scent and the calming sensory experience it offers. Its aromatic compounds, including phytoncides, are part of what makes time among the plants so soothing. The field invites us to pause, breathe deeply, and notice what happens when we give ourselves a little more time.
Lavender has become an important part of the land at Buds in Bloom. We harvest in July, using a portion of the crop for small-batch offerings such as culinary lavender and lavender sachets. Once a year, we also open the field for visitors to harvest their own lavender, with the offering changing from year to year.
THE FARMSTAND
Our farmstand is a seasonal extension of the sanctuary, a small place to take a little of Buds in Bloom home with you.
We offer small-batch goods made from the land, including Soft Landing Tea, lavender sachets, and lavender fire starters, with seasonal offerings appearing throughout the year.
Products are available for local pickup by request. Because many of our offerings are sensitive to heat and moisture, we keep them protected until your order is ready.

A LIVING SANCTUARY
This land is still becoming.
We are learning its rhythms, restoring what we can, and allowing some things to unfold in their own time.
